Anime is a style of animation that originated in Japan and has become popular worldwide. It encompasses a wide range of animated works, including TV shows, films, and web series, and covers various genres and target audiences. So lets get you started with the 5 Best Anime for people looking to get into Anime
1. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (finished)
FMAB is one of the best anime to ever grace our screens. Action-packed, great plot with proper writing of characters even the side characters were not left out. It was beautifully done. With just 64 episodes of goodness, it leaves a lasting impression on any viewer.
The lead protagonists are brothers were cursed when they experimented on ‘dark magic’. Their journey was so beautiful to watch.
The storyline is of high calibre, the pacing, the animation, world-building… everything. It progresses beautifully. It not only focuses on our protagonists, Ed and Al, but also a number of characters and gives it’s respect to the characters. Everyone had a relatable story.
The plot is very clever and has many twists and turns to keep you glued to the screen. There are many characters and all provide an impact on the main story, the secondary antagonists are strong enough to lead the show on their own and that is what sets this show apart from other anime.
The show has its comedic relief very often even though it deals with a pretty dark storyline. Easily got one of the best endings of all time.
2. Vinland Saga (Ongoing)
Set in the golden age of Vikings. Brilliantly exemplifies how a single event can alter the course of a kid’s life permanently. Writer took liberty with a lot of historical characters. It’s a treat for the eyes if you’re one who enjoys Viking movies.
The story revovles around young Thorfinn who saw his father get killed in front of his eyes and in order to avenge his father he follows around his father’s killer.
Throughout the anime there is strong character a stunning development. The first season was all about war, blood, gore and vengeance.
You will be bathed in loads of action sequences. The second season takes a drastic turn of events with Thorfinn becoming a slave. The second season has a lot to offer with respect to the development of character.
This season revolves around Thorfinn reflecting on his past and his actions. The anime is very much different from from all the shonen genre out there.
If you’re into action-packed anime, the season one will more than satisfy one. The second season is way more mature and a tad melancholic but every bit as fun as the first.
3. Demon Slayer (Ongoing)
Demon Slayer took the anime world by storm with its release in 2019. It was on the lips of most anime fans and that hasn’t changed till date.
With just three seasons, it set the bar quite high in various ways particularly for its visually aesthetic animation (All thanks to Ufotable animation studio)
Each episode is emotionally charged and thought-provoking. You’re wholly immersed with the struggles of the protagonist. The secondary protagonists have complex personalities that together help to drive the plot forward. The soundtrack is pleasingly magnetic.
You can almost find nothing to complain about except to dwell deep into the story. The way the anime gives goosebumps and set the mood is exceptionally brilliant all you want to do is to root for all the characters, even some of the antagonist with their backstories before they became evil.
It explores deeper psychological themes like loss, death, family, determination and the good old eternal battle of good versus evil. It is also an anime that reflects choices we humans have to make on a day-to-day basis that determine what kind of life we will end up living.
4. Dororo (completed)
Dororo (2019) is very much a stellar anime especially since it is a newer adaptation of a preexisting anime from the 60s.
It masterfully sets up the story, conflict, and world where the characters live in, and most of said characters develop so smoothly that they make you connect with them even with some of them not having to say anything.
While the music and animation are remarkable and stunning respectively, the one thing that glued everything together and will undoubtedly be one of the main things people will hold on to the most is the emotional pull this show has.
The ending will surely leave you conflicted on who to root for. The innocent main character who seeks to restore what was originally his or the father’s kingdom whose prosperity hinges on the suffering of a single individual?
This isn’t your typical anime with a happy ending, it is a grippingly dark and sad exploration of the concept of right or wrong.
5. Mob Psycho 100 (completed)
If you are a fan of the secretly-op character troupe, then you’ll enjoy this show. I was very unsure about this show until I finally gave in and boy did I regret not having watched it since it was first recommended to me.
I was mostly fooled by the bland poster. Mob Psycho has a lot of action driven storylines with a blend of comedic genius. You’re gonna be laughing while being profoundly entertained.
This is one of those anime where you get an overpowered character done right. Overpowered but not invincible. A terribly weak looking nobody stomping on monster-level characters.
The secondary protagonists/side characters make for good comedic writing and the author really shines with them.
