About ADB-JSP
The ADB-JSP (Asian Development Bank-Japan Scholarship Program 2023), funded by the Government of Japan and administered by the Asian Development Bank, offers an excellent opportunity for citizens from ADB’s developing member countries to pursue postgraduate studies.

Since its inception in 2000, the Division of Environmental Studies, consisting of six departments, and the Graduate Program in Sustainability Science at the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences (GSFS) have been designated by ADB to receive the ADB-JSP scholarship.

The following departments warmly welcome ADB-JSP students:
- Department of Natural Environmental Studies
- Department of Ocean Technology, Policy, and Environment
- Department of Environment Systems
- Department of Human and Engineered Environmental Studies
- Department of Socio-Cultural Environment Studies
Upon completing a master’s course in any of the above departments, you will be conferred with a Master of Environmental Studies.

Additionally, the Department of International Studies offers the Master of International Studies for students who complete the respective master’s course there. Moreover, the Graduate Program in Sustainability Science – Global Leadership Initiative confers the degree of Master of Sustainability Science to qualifying candidates.

Designated eligibility by GSFS mandates that applicants for a master’s course must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution, equivalent to a bachelor’s degree offered at the University of Tokyo. It’s essential to note that ADB-JSP scholarships are exclusively awarded for students pursuing a master’s degree.

What the ADB-JSP Scholarship Covers:
The ADB–JSP scholarship provides comprehensive financial support, including:
- Full tuition fees
- Monthly subsistence and housing allowance
- Allowance for books and instructional materials

Additionally, scholars engaged in research may also be eligible for a special grant to assist with thesis preparation.
