HOSPITAL: UDUTH
Fair; a spacious self contains. Most rooms have a reading table, a center table, two sits, a bed, foam, a refrigerator, and a gas cooker. Amazing, right? The room is old. One will have to fix most things in the room before packing in and still pay for accommodation.
The good news, it is one house officer per room.
It is a very big center yet very organized and clean. You could access all the departments without stepping outside the building.
It has a very clean environment I have to emphasize this. This is North no maximal flexing. Mami and a few other places will give you an intermediate vibe or else nothing.
Things cost here no caps. Except for sachet of water and a few other things.
Salary is the same as MDCN.
EXTRA: Excessive workload that is killing with few HOs.
Remark: Not recommendable
Dr Edith (EX-HO UDUTH)

Hospital: Enugu State University Teaching Hospital, Parklane, (ESUT-TH)
Popularly known to all as Parklane, ESUT-TH is located in the centre of Enugu capital city. It comprises of various buildings which houses the different departments in the hospital.
It is very often preferred to the federal teaching hospital (UNTH) because of ease of access, although this means more workload for the doctors and house officers.
Accommodation: The hospital has series of buildings conveniently located within walking distance. Accommodation is for house officers, intern pharmacists and medical laboratory scientists and for junior resident doctors.
Light and water are a constant, and the rent is currently 48k for the one year of housemanship.
Downside: Workload, you can’t afford to be lazy because even though the quota stated on MDCN website is 120, the hospital can only afford to pay about half of that.
Upside: Light and Water are fairly constant . Accommodation fee is very affordable and also within walking distance.
Good working environment, in terms of fair calls and the seniors you work under. Weekend calls are 24hours. Call food dey too.
Salary: Base of 185k, plus hazard allowance of 30k. That’s a total of 215k
Flex: If you’ve not heard about 042, then maybe you should come and experience it then, and Parklane hospital is within walking distance of Polo Park Mall, boasting of a food court and cinema; other malls can be located within fifteen fifteen-minute drive or even less. Then there are lots of places to have fun; amusement parks, karaoke bars, lounges, clubs, etc
Orderliness: Your duties as a house officer are outlined. You’re in charge of all IV drugs, and if you want to be a hardworking house officer, you can also learn to do other procedures.
Administration: You can complete all you’re registration within a week. Also your salary will come once you’ve registered on the payroll, none of that three months delay anymore.
Toxicity: Of course e dey , Small pockets of toxicity here and there, but nothing you can’t handle.????
Food: This is Enugu so you can’t starve, Precious Kitchen within the hospital premises is so good, na we dey rush am. Also, there are many really good restaurants dotted around, you just need to step out of the gate.
On this note, I bid you welcome to Parklane. If you’re lucky, you might meet me when you start your internship.
Dr Ugochi (HO, ESUT-TH Parklane)
Hospital: Saint Nicholas Hospital (Lagos Island)
One of the best hospitals in Nigeria. A Multi-specialist hospital and the national leader in all kidney-related illnesses and healthcare in Nigeria.
It’s a private hospital located in campbell street, lagos Island. It’s opposite Lagos Island Maternity Hospital (LIMH)
Accommodation: During my time, the building itself was very good however the environment isn’t as it’s located inside lagos island environments.
It’s a 10minutes walk from the hospital, the light in the environment isn’t that bad and the gen is usually on from 7pm to 10:30pm if need be.
Currently, the new HOs are in another apartment and I don’t know much about it
Downside: Problems with administration. HOs need to follow up with approval for one thing or the other.
There is this online MDT meeting where all members of staff are present during morning reviews and different people can ask you different questions both relevant and irrelevant ones.
The hands-on experience isn’t much as most patients are usually treated as VIPs except you’re the serious type that wants to make up for it on outside posting.
Upside: You always know when to receive your salary. You will not be owed, Good relationship with you consultants and they will always carry you along.
Outside postings to make up for some things. For example, O&G outside posting is at LIMH, and Paeds at Massey
You will be a professor in nephrology by the time you’re done cos that’s the bulk of patients there. Your medicine will be grounded and you will be proud of yourself.
For Surgery, you will be solid. They have one the best General surgeon ????. No ????
Salary: 203k
Pay day is 25th of the month: 183k
Cola is received on 15th or 16th of the month: 20k
Flex:
Lagos island is close to them lekki and VI. A lot of places to go and enjoy.
If you have the money, you might over spend????
Orderliness: Nurses give IV drugs except for IV labetalol, MgSO4 and Aminophylline
Food: My favorite part actually is that they will feed you well. I mean well.
I like Saturdays ????. Lunch is eba and egusi, dinner is fried yam and Sunday morning is bread with fish sauce. Sunday is fried rice for lunch and Jollof macaroni with salad for dinner

Dr. Priscilla (HO at federal university teaching hospital Lafia )
Hospital: FMC JALINGO
One of big known FMCs in Nigeria located in the North here in Taraba State
It has few consultants in the respective dept for HJ training namely O&G, PAEDO, MEDICINE AND SURGERY , who are in charge of your clinical training, along sides with MOs who support in your hand on patient trainings .
It has several structures, which includes various wards for the above mentioned depts, 2 specialist clinics.
All other firms of Surgery like orthopedic, ophthalmology, ENT, RADIOLOGY, etc have thier clinics but work alongside the general surgery, so during your surgery posting you spend few weeks in each of them respectively.
A big A/E where medicine and Surgery people goo for their calls. All the hospital environment are trekkable so you won’t spend money on transport.
There is adequate lightening in the hospital at night, and there is adequate power supply, like up 23hr 30mins.
Accomodation: Accommodation is free, but remember we are in Nigeria where it is easier to emulate bad things than good things, so that one won’t come tomorrow and they introduce rent fees, the fellow will now say but I never said there is rent fee.
Once you arrive, accommodations is sure for you unlike some places. There are accommodations, one old bungalow in front of the main gate where you have your room alone, although some other medics stay there too.
Then another classy self con inside the hospital which is well equipped, adequate water and power supply.
When you arrive newly, if there is no space there, you will likely stay in the old building, once people pack out from the main one, you are entitled to pack into the self con.
While if you are privileged to come when people don sign out already, you pack into the main lodge straight.
There is no over crowding since the hospital strictly keep to what they can handle.
There is Tennis board and lawn tennis in the main lounge.
EXPOSURE: O&G is the most busiest posting here, Haven’t seen or heard stories of toxic Chiefs since I came.
For Paedo, remember no students, so bombarding of questions na on your head and they are serious about teaching, so you must read oooo.
UPSIDE: Response to emergency is easier since both accomodations are less than 5 mins to the A&E or any of your posting or call venue, no transportation.
Market is also close to the hospital.
CALLS: Call starts from 4pm till like 2pm of the next day. U can rush back and freshen up early morning the next day if it is calm then and come back.
There is call food once on a week day and twice on weekends.
RESPONSIBILITY; You would be the one to clerk patients on call days, set lines, execute the treatment plans from your chiefs.
Pre-rounds checks and documentation if need be. Do documentation during rounds, post rounds attention to patients and their prescriptions. Write consult to other specialties when necessary
UPSIDES: No IV MEDICATION AND INFUSIONS, no drug charts.
No be you dey officially check patient vitals.
RECREATION: There are a lot of natural tourist sites, which I do see people embark on
ADMINISTRATION: Cool, no stress, a day or 2 is enough.
Food:
This is North, if you are cooking yourself, food stuff is cheaper.
Outside eating is #700 for lowest cadre. I dont know much about canteens shaaaa since I rarely go.

Good afternoon. I must really appreciate this. It is and eye opener and guide to helping new doctors make a choice on their house job placement. Howbeit, some facilities were poorly talked about, in the sense, that the information does not really help or convince to make a choice about the place eg University of calabar teaching hospital
