The UEFA EURO 2024 round of 16 ties are now confirmed following the conclusion of the group stage. Euro 2024 round of 16 decided. The round of 16 will kick off on 29th June 2024.

It was really a dramatic group stage this past few weeks in the Euros as Georgia pulled off a stunning 2-0 victory over Portugal to become the final side to qualify.

The next stage of the competition is set at Spain, England and hosts Germany have finished first in their group, as expected.

However the highly adored France could only finish second in their group with Austria taking a surprise top spot.

Slovenia, Netherlands, Slovakia and Georgia qualified as four best third-placed teams, while Hungary and Croatia bowed out.

Now, let us take a quick look a preview for the round of 16 kicking off on Saturday.

 Saturday 29th June 2024

1.Switzerland vs Italy: Italy progressively head into the Euros 2024 with a clash against Switzerland in Berlin at exactly 6pm after scraping into second

place few seconds before the final whistle was blown by the referee. They managed to play a draw against Croatia, and finished second place in Group B.

The defending champions will be wary of the swiss, who will most likely have four serie A players in their starting line-up.

Their 1-1 draw with host Germany is a true pointer that the swiss boys are capable of giving the defending champions a bloody nose. The match will surely be a tough one, the both teams will be all alert in order to come out on top.

2.Germany vs Denmark: Germany have been the best team of the group stage alongside Spain under Julian Nagelsmann. With their performance in the group stage, Germany will be rightly considered favourites against Denmark who laboured to second place in Group C just behind England.

Denmark coach Kasper Hjulmand had mentioned that his team always “step up” when facing big nations as Germany are seeking a record-breaking fourth Euro title.

Germany has more upper hand in the forthcoming game, they have more machineries to come out on top, but bear in mind that football is football, the unexpected can still happen.

The match will kick off at Dortmund at exactly 9pm on Saturday.

Sunday 30th june 2024

1.England vs Slovakia: England after struggling to top the table in their group have had a soft landing against Slovakia on Sunday at Gelsenkirchan at exactly 6pm.

England managed to top the table after putting in three hugely disappointing displays against their oppositions.

Gareth Southgate England’s coach was pelted with plastic cups by frustrated fans after Tuesday’s goalless draw with Slovenia and Performances must have to pick up if his team are expecting to go far in this tournament.

2.Spain vs Georgia: Spain have been the most impressive team of the tournament so far after comfortably breezing through the supposedly tough

Group B with a perfect nine points and a one-goal win over the defending champions Italy.

Spain team having rested after a 1-0 win over Albania on Monday, anything other than a straightforward passage into the quarters would be a massive shock.

However at the other hand Georgia are the tournament’s fairytale and had showed by stepping on top of Portugal on Wednesday with a comfortable 2-0 win

So, they can’t totally be looked down upon in the forthcoming game, Spain should also be watchful and careful not to be taken unawares. The games go down at Cologne in Germany at exactly 9pm.

Monday 1st July 2024

1.France vs Belgium: this certainly the most intriguing tie of the round. This game sees two big teams yet to hit form face each other on Monday.

France was totally unimpressive in the group stage of the competition, managing to finish second place in Group D.

Kylian Mbappe is the only player in Frances’ side to score a goal and that goal actually came from a penalty spot in a 1-1 draw with already eliminated Poland.

Belgium meanwhile have played well but was barracked by fans in Stuttgart on Wednesday after a clash against Ukraine which saw them through into the next stage of the competition.

The match kicks off at Dusseldorf, time is 6pm on the dot. Considering the performances of the both teams in the Group stage, the match would surely be an unpredictable one.

2.Portugal vs Slovenia: In a game like this Portugal are likely the favourites to get past this stage. Roberto Martinez may have surely made a raft changes in the teams’ starting eleven amid Wednesday’s defeat to Georgia.

Slovenia did not fully impress in Group C, finishing third and scoring twice in the three matches, but Matjaz kek’s side were unbeaten in the three games and had

once beaten Portugal 2-0 in a pre-tournament friendly. And now they meet again in the knock-out stage of the competition, which results should we expect this time around?

The games happen at Frankfurt Germany at exactly 9pm, we wait I anticipation to see who goes to the stage victorious.

Tuesday 2nd July 2024

1.Romania vs Netherlands: The Dutch team were hugely disappointing in Group D, finishing third behind Austria and France.

Netherlands should be very wary of Romania on Tuesday who are in the last 16 for the first time in 24 years after topping Group E.

However Ronald Koeman, who called his team “appalling” after losing 3-2 to Austria, has been rewarded for their underwhelming displays by being placed on

the easier side of the knockout bracket where England and the defending champions Italy are the only heavy weights found there.

The match kicks off in Munich the capital of Germany at exactly 6pm.

2.Austria vs Turkey: Ralf Rangnick’s Austria have been given the dangerous tag of tournament dark horse after topping Group D ahead of France and Netherlands playing  some exciting football in the process.

Tuesday’s match with Turkey in Leipzig at exactly 9pm promises to be one of the entertaining games of the tournament with Vicenzo Montella’s side being backed by huge support at every Match.
